For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” ~ Luke 2:11-14

As the celebrations begin
Let us first think about him;
It's all about Jesus or it should
As we go to church to sing a hymn.

Honoring his birth for what it meant for us
He sacrificed his life;
He laid down and did as he was told
Even though it caused him strife.

Not just the physical pain
But the pain that hurt inside;
That after all he had done
He'd go to court and be tried.

Christmas is a time to reflect
On all that God has done
It's not a matter of what we get
But the birth of the Holy one
It's not about gifts
With ribbons and bows
Or Christmas trees
Tinsel and mistletoe
The Christmas gift given to us
Is Jesus Christ's
Gift of love

Jesus left the heavenly realm
To become a human here on earth;
His attitude shows us much
As to how we should live after his birth.
He was the Light of the World
We need him now as it's dark;
To celebrate his life, his birth
And how He made His mark.
So celebrate my friends as hearty and as hail
Just think of why we're doing it;
There are many other days 364 in fact
Or do we on our hands just sit?

What means this glory round our feet?"
The Magi mused, "more bright than morn?"
And voices chanted clear and sweet,
"Today the Prince of Peace is born!"

"What means that star?" the shepherd said,
"That brightens through the rocky glen?"
And angels answering overhead,
Sang, "Peace on earth, good will to men!"

'Tis twenty hundred years and more
Since those sweet oracles were dumb;
We wait for Him, like them of yore;
Alas, He seems so slow to come.

But it was said, in words of gold.
No time or sorrow e'er shall dim,
That little children might be bold
In perfect trust to come to Him.

All round about our feet shall shine
A light like that the wise men saw,
If we our loving wills incline
To that sweet Life which is the Law.

So shall we learn to understand
The simple faith of shepherds then,
And clasping kindly hand in hand,
Sing, "Peace on earth, good will to men!"

And they who do their souls no wrong,
But keep at eve the faith of morn,
Shall daily hear the angel-song,
Today the Prince of Peace is born

Hushed are the pigeons cooing low
On dusty rafters of the loft;
And mild-eyed oxen, breathing soft,
Sleep on the fragrant hay below.
Dim shadows in the corner hide;
The glimmering lantern's rays are shed
Where one young lamb just lifts his head,
Then huddles 'gainst his mother's side.
Strange silence tingles in the air;
Through the half-open door a bar
Of light from one low-hanging star
Touches a baby's radiant hair.
No sound: the mother, kneeling, lays
Her cheek against the little face.
Oh human love! Oh heavenly grace!
'Tis yet in silence that she prays
Ages of silence end to-night;
Then to the long-expectant earth
Glad angels come to greet His birth
In burst of music, love, and light.

An angel came to Joseph one night as he dreamed.
"Don't be afraid to marry her, this child is God's own Son,"
And with these words from God's messenger, their journey had begun.
They traveled to the city, their taxes to be paid—
But when Christ was born they found no place for the baby to be laid.
So they wrapped Him up and used a lowly manger for His bed,
With nothing else but straw to place beneath the Christ-child's head.
The shepherds came to worship Him, the wise men traveled too—
Led by a star up in the sky, they found the baby new.
They gave him gifts so wondrous, their incense, myrrh, and gold,
Thus completes the greatest story of a birth 'twas ever told.
He was just a tiny baby, born in a stable far away—
They had no reservations, and no where else to stay.
But His birth was so majestic, in a simple sort of way,
A baby born in Bethlehem on a very special day.
It was the Savior born in Bethlehem, on the very first Christmas Day.

Don't let the worldly ways tempt you
There's so much more than that;
It's a very special time
More than just a silly hat!
